WhereToPlug (wheretoplug.org) is a free, open map of public power points. This page explains what we collect, why, and the cookies used on the site.

Using the map

You can use the map without an account. If you allow it, your browser shares your location so the map can show power points near you; it stays in your browser and isn't sent to us or stored.

Accounts and contributions

To add or correct a listing you sign in with your email address. We store that address to send sign-in links and to link your edits to you, and set a cookie to keep you signed in. We don't share your email or send marketing.

What you contribute (listings, corrections, reports and photos) is public, shown with the display name you choose, and published as part of the open dataset under the Open Database Licence.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets cookies and collects details such as your approximate location, device and the pages you view. We send it the page path only, never the map position.

Advertising

We show ads through Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running the site. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where the law requires it, you'll be asked for consent before these cookies are used.
